Every Year, OVAM (the Public Waste Agency of Flanders) and the weekly magazine Humo, give the Green Event Award to organisations who are committed to make their event as environmentally friendly as possible. This year, the award was granted to Sfinks Mixed from Boechout.

The jury praised the Sfinks festival: ”sustainability is in the DNA of the festival.” With slogans such as ”70% of our meals are veggie” or ”thanks for sorting your garbage”, Sfinks also involves the visitors in its efforts to be a green festival. The waste was well sorted at Sfinks. They made their own waste islands, cups, plastic bottles, plated, food and residual waste are collected separately. Sfinks also consciously opted for ecological and organic food.

Besides Sfinks, two other events were awarded: in the category under 3000 visitors Release Festival in Borgloon won the award, while in the category between 3000 and 15 000 visitors Iepersfest was awarded.
